Collect Required Documents
Gather all necessary documents, such as Form 16 (TDS certificate), salary slips, bank statements, details of any income from house property, and proof of deductions like 80C, 80D, etc.
Verify Eligibility
Ensure that your income qualifies for ITR-1. This form is only for individuals earning income from salaries, pensions, interest, and one house property, with total income below 50 lakh rupees.
Login to the Income Tax Portal
Visit the official income tax e-filing website and log in using your credentials. If you don’t have an account, you can create one by providing basic details.
Select ITR-1 Form
Once logged in, navigate to the ‘Income Tax Returns’ section and select the ITR-1 form for filing.
Fill in the Details
Enter the required details, such as personal information, income details, deductions claimed, and tax paid. You will also need to provide details of your income from salary, interest, and house property.
Calculate Taxable Income and Tax Liability
Based on the entered information, the system will calculate your taxable income and tax liability. You can also claim exemptions or deductions to reduce your tax burden.
Submit the Form
Once you have verified all the details, submit the ITR-1 form electronically. After submission, an acknowledgment will be sent to your registered email.
E-Verify the Return
After submission, you can e-verify your return using OTP, Aadhaar, or other available methods. E-verification is required for your return to be processed.
Payment of Tax (if applicable)
If there is any tax due, make the payment using the available payment options before the due date to avoid penalties.
Save the Acknowledgment
Keep the acknowledgment received after e-filing for future reference.
